Home or away

We are off on holiday for a week soon and I can't decide whether to put my lovely cat in a cattery for the week or have someone come in and feed him at home. Which is best do you think?

For a week away I'd go for a cattery.

If it's just a weekend then i get family or friends to come in and feed but I think it's too much of a responsibility to do it for too long.

We've had a neighbour come in and feed out two when we've been away for a couple of nights, but the one time we've been away longer they went to a cattery. I just dreaded coming home and finding that something had happened to one of them or just to 'don't panic, but we haven't seen one of them since Tuesday ...' and having to wait and see if they both turned up.

They weren't particularly chuffed with going to the cattery though, so I shall rethink after we've been on holiday next time - we're going away over Christmas though, and they're definitely going to the cattery for that.

Does your cat use a litter tray? if so, go with the cattery, if not, I'd get someone in... When mine went to a cattery, on they went from not using a tray to having to use one and then i had to wean them off the damn thing when they got home

He doesn't use a litter tray, very much an adventurer. My mum has offered to come in and cuddle him every day and feed him so maybe I will let him stay home.
