How much do you feed your cat/does it eat?

I think I have the greediest cats in the world.

2 cats, 1 10ish (could be a lot older), and 9 month old.

The get a pouch am, one at tea-time and then are mouching around for biscuits, mid evening, and then before bed.

They are wormed regularly, and are normal weight.

My cat would eat all day if I allowed him, but he generally gets biscuits on a morning and on an evening. In between meals he eats the dogs food and any scraps that dd2 will share with him. He is going to be devesated when she starts nursery next week Grin

my old cat, she's 17, would eat all day. She gets either a pouch or half a tin (depending on which we have) in the morning, same again when the boys come home from school, and another around 7/8 at night. She yells constantly for food though- and the second we even glance in the direction of the kitchen she's there yowling.

She's wormed regularly though. I think she's just greedy. I also know she mooches around alot of the neighbours begging for food.

Our younger moggie (4) just eats a pouch or half a tin in the morning, and same again at night.

There's always biscuits in the bowl in case which the younger one will occasionally peck at but my old one doesn't touch. (Which proves she's not really starving like she always makes out- just a greedy wee thing!)

I have 2 cats, one 16 and one about 3. they have a tin between them twice a day and they have a few biscuits down as well. I think the young cat eats much more than the old one though. the younger cat is quite large and will also eat anything that drops on the floor from the table.

My cats, both slim & old, get a pouch each in am , same in evening plus bowl of decent (IAMS/purina) biscuits to have at other times if still hungry. If you read feeding instructions on pouches it says to feed much more but mine never completely finish what i put out so know the're not underfed

sharbie · 23/09/2010 12:31

aren't they supposed to have 3 or 4 pouches a day? mine would eat all this and more and then be sick

LinenBasket · 23/09/2010 12:32

2 cats

1 pouch each in the morning then a free run of biscuits for the rest of the day.

I think they can eat more pouches if you re not feeding biscuit Sharbie.

my cat is small but rather fat, i have always given her 2 pouches a day, but lately she's been driving me crazy wanting a 3rd so i've given in as she's nicer to be around if she's not wailing for food.

she often steals food. and hooks open cupboard door to get a pouch out, scratches it til it opens and eats it off the kitchen floor.

vet said because she was a rescue cat and semi feral when we got her, she will always behave as if food is scarce and keep eating whenever food is available.

sharbie · 23/09/2010 14:43

mine are always ravenous but one will absolutely not touch biscuits and another eats a few but not that keen

Biscuitscoco · 24/09/2010 07:47

My two get half a pouch each in the morning and about 70g biscuits each in the evening plus few scraps of raw meat or fish if its available.

Youngest cat has weight problems (she is v. greedy) so vet told me to restrict food. Bit Sad for the other cat who is normal weight and not greedy at all, but impossible to feed separately.

I have a brother and a sister about 1.5 yrs old. They share a pouch twice a day plus a palm of biscuits each twice a day.
