Hi, any outdoorsy folk want to chat about all things active outdoors?

I’m mid-40s, mum of one, absolutely love hiking, mountain and gravel biking, outdoors swimming (although not braved winter swims yet!), skiing, horse riding, climbing, paddle boarding, kayaking, gardening, nature.

My DC is almost 8 and I find it hard to find other like-minded families, despite living somewhere where you would expect to find outdoorsy types.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking for people who want to scale Everest with toddlers in tow, but it would be nice to chat to people who don’t think I’m mad for taking a 7 year old on a one night bike-packing trip!

I don't think you're mad! I'm older than you and my kids are grown now, but I've dragged them up and down Alps and pyrenees, slept in mountain refuges with them, walked sections of the SWP with them. Now they've left home I do 3 or 4 expeditions a year - multi-day hikes in the mountains, long distance cycle trips

I come from Scotland & live down south now, I regularly go to the highlands for Munro climbing, coastal walks & visiting the islands on the Argyll coast, it gives me a break and positive reset every few months. My kids have also left home so I have more freedom to explore. Only snag is that my oh isn’t so outdoorsy. I like my own space when hiking but have chatted to many fellow walkers along the way. I’m hoping to do the west highland way in May, oh backing up in a camper van!

Yep me.

pretty much just the outdoor swimming these days - although I’ve not made it through this winter - too cold for me right now.

we had lovely times camping and walking with my twins.

We are a family of scouts/girl guides.

Our last family trip was sleeping outdoor in a shelter in -12C on a 10 miles hike. Great fun!

I've just bought a campervan and planning to start heading off for expeditions in the spring. Outer Hebrides, Scandinavia, Dolomites...
