Hi,
I don't know whether this is the right place to post, but I'll try somewhere else if I don't get responses.

dd's Superdry backpack is no use for carrying heavy textbooks and folders as there is no waist strap to support the back, and I would prefer her to have a proper backpack that is comfortable for this purpose.

I have a North Face Jester backpack that was a present to me many, many years ago, that would be ideal as it has several compartments, and a waist and sternum strap. Today's model doesn't seem to. The Borealis does and is the right sort of dimensions, but are there other bags that people can recommend here please, before I part with my money?

How old is she? Wearing a waist belt on a backpack for school might unfortunately result in name calling. Most secondary school kids won't wear back packs on both shoulders let alone a waist belt too.

Thanks for replying.

dd is 17, an A Level student.

She really doesn't care what others think and even with the Superdry bag, she carries it on both shoulders! Why would a waist belt that comes attached with a backpack result in name calling?

Anyway, I am conscious that she doesn't want to look like she's going to the Lakes when she walks to and from school, but yesterday, she carried 3 heavy textbooks and two folders in her bag, which was painful.

She will probably be ok with just a chest strap

The best thing to do is go and try they.

My boobs tend to get int he way.

I have this Patagonia one - an older model from Vinted and the chest strap is adjustable.

Thank you @fatgirlswims . Yes, I agree that the best thing would just be to take her shopping. It's good to hear that a chest strap suffices and she might consider that.

Go out doors has the biggest selection but I don't always think they're the nicest / trendiest
