Hello,
I am considering moving from the Midlands (near Birmingham) to Somerset to be a bit closer to the countryside. Looking for a place where there is still a bit of community with perhaps some outdoor activities (walking groups etc.) would be ideal.
It is difficult to find unbiased assessments of an area and the crime reports do not necessarily tell the whole story. I had a look at Langport, which I think is quite nice and from what I could find has a nice community feel, but might be out of my price bracket (tops £350.000). I also had a look at Wellington, which seems like a good place - not too big but sizeable enough to have all the essentials and good access to the countryside and into the South West.
The have been some figures released that suggest Wellington might not be that safe a place (apparently 10th most dangerous town in Somerset!), but when I searched online, people seem to think that it is a nice place to live. I had a look at the east of town (Cades Farm development), but there are also places in Rockwell Green or Tonedale that seem suitable. Are there any areas that should be avoided, and is there a lot of noise from the motorway/A38 that run close by or would you get used to that?
Or if there are any other places that I should perhaps consider in that wider area, that would be great too!
Many thanks in advance.
