Dp and I are thinking about getting folding bikes.

Can anyone recommend a brand or anything to avoid? I'm looking on Facebook marketplace but don't know which brands are any good.

Depends if you want to carry them or not

OH has a folding whisper, I had one as well, the idea was that for trips where we didnt have bike storage available we could store them in the car. They are heavy and difficult to fold

I sold mine as the geometry wasnt right but OH loves his, they go like the clappers

Thanks for the reply. We live in an upstairs flat so we need to be able to carry them up stairs.

Brompton, easy to fold up and carry. They have little wheels on the luggage rack so you can dray it along like a small suitcase.

I would be inclined to try some. We bought some second hand which we keep on our boat. They are very heavy, hard to fold and really not very ergonomically designed so not comfortable to ride.

Brompton is your best bet them, but they're pricey, even second hand

Thanks for the replies. I think we'd only ride them occasionally.

Our kids are now riding their bikes well enough that we can't keep up just by running after them!
