Tips for UK beach holiday with baby

Not been away with DS yet, and we're off to Devon for a week at the end of the month - DS will be 10.5months.

We're self catering in a place we've stayed before.

We've bought a UV half tent/wind break thing for shade on the beach and also have a parasol.

Have read on here that some people take a small paddling pool to the beach and fill with some sea water as its warmer than the sea and therefore dc are happier in it than the sea? We've got him a body warmer vest thing to keep him warmer in the sea as well.

Got him a couple of those uv full body suit things.

We've got a basic suncream that needs reapplying every hour. Worth upgrading and buying a once a day one for him?

Any tips?

I wouldn't bother with the other sun cream - if he gets sandy or wet you will need to reapply it anyway, it only lasts hours if isn't rubbed off.

I don't get why people take buggies onto the beach, they look such a hassle! Maybe if their children will nap in them? Beach tents are good. Minimise which valuables you have with you so you can all have a play in the sea at the same time without worrying about leaving stuff, and I'd consider paying for beach parking if you're more than a short walk away, so you can keep stuff in the car.

DS sleeps anywhere so he'll sleep in the tent thing. Good idea to park as near to beach as possible so we can just run back to car to grab stuff.
