Can I get OS maps on my android phone?

Preferably without too much expense? And is it worth even doing it in remote areas ie is the GPS good enough? I know there must be a way. I have got a Garmin as well if that provides a better solution. All suggestions very, very welcome. It's not for geocaching, just ordinary hiking. Thank you!

I know it's possible to buy OS maps for gps devices, but they are £££. I've downloaded some open source ones (which I think means they're a community effort and anyone can edit them, but not too sure!) which were free. I'm using them for geocaching, but it's not compulsory!

Not got the first idea whether you can use them on an android phone or not though.

Talkytoaster is the bloke that updates them and he does this fairly regularly (monthly or more often). There are several versions, so best to read a bit before you start downloading.

Have a look at the talky toaster site :)

You can use Viewranger on your android phone. You buy credits and download map tiles - so you buy as much as you need.

With the Garmin, depends on the model, but you can buy and download mapping from the Garmin website. Can be quite expensive, but there's options for area size.

Wow. Is this the fastest board on the site? Thank you so much. Investigating both those now.
