wetsuits - what thickness for May?

DD has persuaded DH and I to do a windsurfing course. It's early May, on a reservoir up on the pennines. She has a 3/2 O'Neill wetsuit - DH is unconvinced that 3/2 wil be sufficient for us oldies at that time of year even if would be appropriate if we miraculously do OK and want to carry on doing it during the summer.

Any advice would be welcome. Also, obv need some sort of boots, what about gloves - anything else?

Full length or shorty?

Oh I see, you're not asking because you're replacing your daughter's wetsuit, you're asking because you're buying your own.

I would wear a 3 mil in May on the surface. Maybe not at depth, but I'd have thought the surface would be ok.

Full length - yes, for us. DD is happy with hers (though she didn't start using it there till more like June last year). I certainly hope not at depth Grin but I'm sure I'll spend more time in the water than I'd like.

I go out in my winter wetsuit (5/4) definitely until May, and most likely with boots as well and we are in South Devon! 3/2 will be cold! You'd be best getting a 4/3, it won't be enough for winter but will be fine for spring-summer-autumn, but a 5/4 will be too hot come June/July.
