Best bedding solutions for an older dog with occasional night-time wee accidents

does anyone use incontinence pads for dogs?
like a Kylie sheet
she is almost 14 and sleeps on our bed
if i forget to let her out before bed she wees on our bed
currently we are not using a duvet luckily but as the weather gets less warm we will go back to using one.
what is the solution?

Obvious solution seems to be to not forget to let her out before bed.
Put a note on the stairs or your bed or wherever you need to remind you.

If she still goes, then I'd look at waterproof duvet protectors.

although last night i let her out and she just wondered around, not going

Do you foresee a time when she may no longer be able to get onto your bed? If that’s the case can you invest in something just for her? Mine loved her knuffelwuff and in winter we put a small duvet on top. The waterproof duvet cover would be ideal for the accidents.

Shut the door to upstairs so she can’t go up first.

we normally shut the stair gate

she has a bed which she sleeps in during the day and we tried taking that upstairs and she still managed to jump onto our bed
we wondered about nappies but i dont think she would like those.
i have bought a couple of reusable kylie's for now

I just put a couple of puppy pads under her blanket, easier to wash a blanket than the quilt!

You can't put her in nappies because you're not doing well enough at remembering to let her out! Go out in the garden with her, give her a treat when she has a wee in the garden, go back inside together. Every night. Step up.

i mean i do let her out, in fact she asks to go out every evening at 9 pm

and dont you think a dog should/would ask to go out in the middle off the night?

Unless she's incontinent and unaware she's weeing (which can happen when they are older but can be effectively medicated if you take her to the vet) then she'll be moving around before she wees. So you are sleeping through it. My dog would ask to go out by coming over and looking at me. You might just not be noticing if you're asleep.

This was the start of dementia with our girl. She would NOT pee last thing despite walking round garden for ages and then would mess overnight. I slept in living room with her in the end so that when I heard she was restless I'd take her out. It was the start of the slippery slope though I'm afraid.
