Despite the world's amazing symphonies, historical geniuses giving us the cleverest works of audiable art the best sounds in the world remains to be

your dog crunching a biscuit.

There really isn't a better sound!! I'm not wrong 🤣

Yes I completely agree re the chewing with mouth open - utterly adorable happy eating in dogs but if a human did it I would flip the dining table 🤣

My dogs crunching peppers, cucumber or carrots gives me joy.

My husband crunching anything at all makes me want to kill him.

friedaddedchilli · 10/08/2026 19:34

Can’t beat the noise, but the gorgeous open-mouth “I don’t have many teef but I love this” chewing makes me smile every time.

FrannyScraps · 10/08/2026 19:38

Also, when our boy would be just laying on his bed and suddenly get up and go for a drink from his bowl.... like his little brain just told him he was thirsty and also where to find water.... 😍

Bellablahhole · 10/08/2026 19:42

I don't have dogs anymore 😔 but YANBU. That sound is just lovely ❤️

somethingnewandexciting · 10/08/2026 19:45

Agree that the snuffles and fastidiousness of cleaning, while revolting if I think too deeply, makes me feel like she is a happy pupper. I also always laugh when she does a squeaky fart and sits up startled and has a confused sniff of her bottom and looks at me like "what the heck was THAT?"

I find it remarkable that both dd and ddog snore, do weird clicking noises in their sleep (like dd used to do bfeeding!) and have to have one leg touching me while they sleep if near me. It seems so odd they have such similar traits!

BCBird · 10/08/2026 20:46

Yes me crunching on a biscuit or three!!

friendlyflicka · 10/08/2026 20:53

A horse drinking water

YeOldeGreyhound · 11/08/2026 15:19

My greyhound used to love Giant Wotsits. I have a video of her having a good old cronch of some, and it makes me smile.

elQuintoConyo · 11/08/2026 21:44

Purplecatshopaholic we've also got a podenco! Portuguese podengo mixed with... squirrel? Not many outside Spain.

VanGoSunflowers · 12/08/2026 10:31

Absolutely a beautiful sound. Also, the freeloader sigh, the groans of delight during ear scratches and the sound they make when they’re sniffing something on a walk.
Actually, I love watching my dog doing serious sniffs on a walk. He looks like he’s concentrating so hard, his little ears pricked up and his nose twitching side to side. It still makes me melt every time he does it.

I love watching my dog eat a carrot (she has one every lunch time). She takes it to her bed and then uses her paw to angle it at 45 degrees , which is the cutest thing, then munch bits off and crunch them happily whilst looking up at me! So joyful

AutumnDragon · 12/08/2026 11:06

I love the sound of mine crunching cauliflower or broccoli florets, and he always looks so ecstatic when he does it. not so keen on the sounds (and smells) he makes later though😆

My dog eating a prawn cracker.

my boy loves prawn crackers, and yes the sound of him crunching them with a happy look on his face is fabulous. Also the little whimper when he thinks I’ve forgotten to share said prawn crackers is adorable. My kids making similar noises not so much.

HappiestSleeping · 12/08/2026 11:19

I agree with @Dearg and @noctilucentcloud about the snoring. I work with dogs, and having a load all snoring around you is excellent. I have four in today, and they are all gently snoring at the moment. Well, one is a ridgeback, so the snoring isn't that gentle 🤣

exexpat · 12/08/2026 11:35

The slightly muffled sleep-yapping when they are dreaming about chasing squirrels is my absolute favourite sound.

dudsville · 12/08/2026 12:19

We used to give ours a whole carrot from the fridge. Sitting there with the carrot prooped between her fluffy feet, taking her time. Comp chomping, snufling in the grass for any dropped bit. Pure delight.

Re the sounds dogs makes versus humans, my DH's snoring used to irritate me so much. I was contantly poking and prodding him the night. The we got dogs that snored, had puppy dreams that included the side running and occassional rabbit kicks (in bed with us), with those puffy sounding closed mouth little woofs. Those sounds made me smile, and to some extent actually comforted me back to sleep, and then I started to feel the same way towards my DH's snoring.

Definitelyrandom · 13/08/2026 06:09

Our greyhound tends to dribble his bedtime biscuit and bits of hard biscuit are like near invisible lego on bare feet.....

I'm going for the sound of his teeth chattering when he gets a scritch from one of us in just the right place.

TheGoldenOwl · 13/08/2026 07:59

Yes @Jellycatspyjamas !!! The little whimper when they think you're not going to share! Like a little panic, "she's forgotten me and eating it all!!" It is the cutest and of course unless it is something that will kill her, i share!

It's so cute. Although even better is the sudden thumping tail wagging in her sleep, really hard and fast! Obviously a very happy dream 😍

heartsinvisiblefury · 13/08/2026 08:39

Totally agree OP, I ADORE listening to my dog crunch his biscuits and am so glad it’s not just me !

heartsinvisiblefury · 13/08/2026 08:41

BarbarianBabs · 10/08/2026 13:03

My Labrador rarely crunches. She prefer swallow whole 🤣

😂

Jellycatspyjamas · 13/08/2026 10:28

Why is it I have bowls of fresh, clean water carefully placed around the house, but the bloody dog still insists on drinking from muddy puddles in the garden. He walked past two water bowls to get to the mud puddle. Strange creature.
