Do your dogs bark at your robot hoover?

Considering getting one because of the dog hair but I don't know how my dogs will react because they absolutely hate my sons drone and little RC car. I don't know if they will tolerate one!

Yes although less than the actual vacuum cleaner as I can give him treats and distract him. However, I usually switch Mark (robot vacuum) on when we go out for walks anyway or overnight in a different room to where the dog sleeps.

Mark 🤣

Yes one of them hates my Hetty hoover.

My whippet doesn't seem to care, although we usually schedule them to run in the early hours when he's comatose anyway.

My dogs don’t like it and they just get out of the way. If they did bark I would take them upstairs while it was on

Mine don’t pay it any attention and I have a completely loopy Boxer who would usually try and play with something like that. He used to be slightly scared, now just moves out of its way. Ours is called Dirty Diana!

My dog was initially barky when I got a robot hoover but then I started putting his breakfast kibble on top of it for a few days so he was obliged to trot around after it and make friends. No barking since and he just moves out of its way now.

We got one as our dog is very reactive to the normal hoover- it goes round overnight and altho he always sleeps with one eye open upstairs he isn’t bothered by it. He would tolerate it in the day if its not going round for long periods but we don’t need to

My dog did but I ignored him and he stopped. If you say “it’s ok” or acknowledge him at all when barking he would bark more. Trick is to just ignore him the first time so he knows you’re not worried about it.

Shrinkhole · 21/06/2026 22:06

No he got used to it. He just ignores it now unless it runs right at him (the hoover is Eugene cos it’s a Eufy) He is worse with the proper hoover I think because of the back and forth motion which he sees as a challenge. And the manual mop he full on attacks so the robot has been a great improvement. It doesn’t get all the dog hair but it cuts down the need for manual hoovering.

Our dog didn’t really bother about ‘Harry’ the hoover and insists on standing in front of it so it has to vacuum around him.

But he barked and tried to attack the robot mower first time but after that he treats it the same way as the robot hoover.
