Are these ticks?

I’ve just spotted these on my dog (sorry about the Willy shot) are they ticks? I’ve never seen one before I imagined they would be bigger?

The tissue is a different person, OP is just showing dog nipples, it looks like.

Rainbowchicken · 19/06/2026 21:04

No they are his nipples! Don't try and remove them!

ReallyIsThisStillGoingOn · 19/06/2026 21:06

I'm a vet. They are nipples.

Diplidocus4 · 19/06/2026 21:12

Yes the last photo is a tick

CarrieMoonbeams · 19/06/2026 21:17

Definitely nipples.

(And please note that dogs have belly buttons too - I have a lot of dogs myself so I sometimes get people asking me to have a look at a lump on their dog's tummy!)

FuzzyBumbleeBee · 19/06/2026 21:40

I would say nipples

I always found ticks to be paler than your photo when engorged

If your really worried chuck Vaseline over them, they want to breath so they'll detach
I used to do this with my German shepherd about 10+ years ago who was the biggest drama queen and wouldn't let me remove ticks

You do need to find them after they detach and dispatch them

Bonsaibaby · 19/06/2026 19:58

That was my dog not op’s- for comparison

OH it's a bad year for ticks started early too. Yes the bastard with legs is a tick.

maudelovesharold · 19/06/2026 21:45

GreenDogDot · 19/06/2026 19:57

I thought the initial photo was nipply but the one in the tissue is definitely a tick, you can see its legs!

The tick photo is a different poster, not the op, to demonstrate what a tick looks like!

troppibambini6 · 19/06/2026 22:17

yes the tissue one isn’t me. I’m really sorry I feel like such an idiot…
I think they are nipples. I swear I’ve never noticed them so far down near his Willy before 🙈
Ive just had a good look and sure enough there are matching ones on the other side…
Im so embarrassed what an idiot 🤣🤣🤣

troppibambini6 · 19/06/2026 22:18

Oh god imagine if I’d tried to pull them off! Poor pup!!

There is definite mistrust in those eyes!

To Make You Feel Better - a lovely lady took her sweet little white ddog to see The Yorkshire Vet with a worrying lump.

It was a mint sweet stuck in it's fur!!
Glad your ddog is OK op. Even though his manhood has been exposed to the whole of mn!!

Snoringdogsfarting · 19/06/2026 22:26

I’m so pleased you realised 👏👏👏🤣

troppibambini6 · 19/06/2026 22:30

Thank @Gardenisabloomingthat makes me feel better and I’m just not going to tell him about the manhood thing 🤣🤣

The thing in the tissue is a tick. The others look like his nipples!

That was another poster, sharing a photo for info!

Eelge · 19/06/2026 22:38

I know more than one person who has had to pay the vet to tell them that the lump/tick is actually a nipple. So mumsnet has saved you a few quid at least!

troppibambini6 · 19/06/2026 22:42

@Eelgeabsolutley!! I’m very grateful for that and also the embarrassment.

Your dog has a gorgeous head and face 😍

FoxRedPuppy · 19/06/2026 23:59

My son was very confused that our male dog had nipples until I pointed out that he too had them 😂.

Yes, I have no idea how I mis-read that first time round! Obviously just really excited about ticks… 🤦🏼‍♀️

BEAchDays2 · 22/06/2026 22:15

The thing in the tissue is a tick.

BruceLeTerror · 23/06/2026 16:00

Controversial, but flea and tick treatment is also deeply harmful to wildlife and aquatic animals. Yes - there is a time and place to use them - but they are overused

Also, surely you would have noticed nipples on your dog before now?

Sorry, not being funny, just socially crap

troppibambini6 · 23/06/2026 18:41

@BruceLeTerror no don’t worry you would have thought so wouldn’t you?!
I have obviously seen my dogs nipples before but I never noticed how low down they went. I think he was at an awkward angle when I saw the lower ones… kind of twisted so I my brain didn’t compute they were in a line and probably nipples.

Good lord they are nipples!! Do not remove them!!

The picture on the tissue is a different poster.

I spend a lot of time in the Highlands and know ticks!! I often think I have found one when running my hands through his fur then realise it's a nipple 🤣
