we have a rescue border collie mix who is 30kg so bigger than a BC. We think he’s about 14years old. He’s currently on
Monthly librella
daily galliprant
pardale V 2/3 times a day depending on how he’s doing

vet prescribed gabapentin but anything over 300mg a day and he shows severe back leg weakness and ataxia.

I’m also not 100% sure that the librela is doing much…..

I read about using CBD oil and just wondered if anyone has tried it? If so what effect did it have and what brands would you recommend (or not)

thanks

Hi @glamapple . Been down that road with my lab boy, on suggestion of the vet.
I used Voyager 1000mg human grade . I don’t think it made any difference. I may have underdosed as it was hard to get sensible information about it.

My boy was on Metacam, Pardale & Librella. We tried gabapentin but he lost his legs . The vet offered Ketamine , but I chose not to go down that route.

For a long while we did hydrotherapy, but latterly acupuncture made a big difference. It was so obvious - he was totally relaxed and sleepy after a session.

When the acupuncture stopped working, we knew it was time.

Thanks @Deargthats very helpful. I hadn’t thought of acupuncture- will see if I can find someone local.
