Short time between litters

One of our neighbours dog had a litter of 8 puppies on Christmas day 2024.
Last week it had another litter of 11 puppies. Mum is a Labrador.
I presume dad is the same breed. First lot were sold at £1000 each.
Second lot have just been advertised on FB for £1200 to be collected in October.
Mum does live in the house.
Is this a normal amount of time between litters.
Worried for the poor dog. Is this a puppy farm.

The Kennel Club recommends no more than 2 litters in a dog’s lifetime.

(My mistake it’s 3). I wouldn’t do it myself especially close together.

@LandSharksAnonymous- some people are ethically opposed to all animal farming, be it for food or for pets. Your dogs being a good example of their breeds is not a good thing for such people, it’s a sign for years humans have selectively bred these animals and warped what they would naturally be like. The only acceptable dog is a fully mongrel one, and ideally then neutered to reduce the global need for dogs to be cared for.

on the other hand, I like having a pet dog, I like eating meat and so I try to make sure my farmed food and pet were done so in as ethically as possible ways. I do understand many vegans think I’m wrong that there’s any way to eat meat ethically.

So why did you come at me, when I am one of the breeders who doesn't do the things you frown on? Just a bit mind boggling.

You called me despicable. 😊

I didn’t come at you, if anything you came at me for not saying what you wanted me to say. You kept assuming what I was saying without me saying a great deal.

But a fully mongrel dog would really have no role other than that of companion or scavenger/street dog, so how do they justify that as being "acceptable"? We need selectively bred dogs for work. That is why they have been bred and deciding "what they would naturally be like" does not equip them for the work we need dogs to do.

I realise that vegans are opposed to any sort of livestock farming and thus would have no need of dogs for herding, guarding or hunting, but they equally do not agree with keeping pets, so touting neutered mongrels are being ethically or morally superior makes no sense. It is just yet another example of the reverse snobbery that is so prevalent on MN but that few of us encounter in the real world.

Name calling? I never said you are despicable I said any sort of breeding which is done purely for money is despicable… that’s not name calling
