Cleaning spaniels ears after swimming.

I am just after some advice about how often people clean their spaniels ears if they are swimmers?
I have been doing every other day for the past couple of weeks but not sure if this is too much?
This time of year my wcs swims twice a day and it’s pretty hot where we live for the whole summer (south of France). Last year he ended up with an ear infection so I am keen to prevent another. Also any great product recommendations appreciated.

Fresh or sea water?

Fresh water, usually rivers occasionally lake.

I'd boil some water, keep it in a bottle and rinse his ears out. Fresh water can have some bugs that breed in warm dark places . Then wipe with a tissue.
