What is this on my dog’s ears?

Please can anyone identify this debris on my springer spaniel’s ears? It’s both sides.
He doesn’t have fleas and is treated monthly.

If it wasn’t on a dog I’d say head lice. Can dogs catch this?

They can get lice.

Not transferable to humans, different kind.

I know what you mean about the head lice, it does look very similar to the egg distribution. But he’s not scratchy at all and there’s definitely no critters on him.
I wonder if it’s just a dandruff like substance. I could try cleaning it off and seeing if it returns.

Dry skin. Olive oil gets rid of it.
