What should I put on my new tag for my dog?

We are moving house so need to get a new collar tag. I know not to put her name on it but what should I put on it? On her current one I have my landline and address. I realised my mobile would have been better. I'll be living alone and need to protect my whereabouts but should my dog get lost..

Absolutely. I once caught a dog that ran onto a motorway. Sadly it had been hit. When the police came they couldn’t get a vet out for another 45 mins so I had them put it in my car so I could take it to my vets. Unfortunately the dog died on the way. The dog had no collar so I had to take it to a vets the following day to be scanned - then we could finally contact the owner. It turns out that they had been searching for it very close to where it was hit. I could have called them and they could have got to the dog if it had had a collar on. It would have been a million times less stressful for us all. Always have a tag on your dog.

That's so sad. Could the dog have been loose because it slipped out of its collar?

Surname
Address
both mobile numbers

the law is surname and address.

In all honesty if I found a lost dog and managed to get close to it safely enough to restrain it, I'd try the phone numbers on the collar and wouldn't actually take it to the address on the tag. I'd wait for the owner to come and collect the dog.
If no answer, the dog comes home with me if at all possible and I'd call the numbers again. The owner would have to come and collect the dog if we got that far.

I don't put our address or postcode on our dogs' collars, just our mobile numbers. It's obvious what they are. Unfortunately, I don't think they would let anyone get close to them or let them touch them, let alone have time to read the phone numbers and call.
