Looking for a handhold - elderly dog bleeding from nose and gums

We noticed he wasn't right in himself yesterday, and checking found blood in his bed.

He's seen the vet first thing today who took bloods which will take 3 days to come back!!! He has a sedation booked for the end of the week in case he needs more investigations.

It's unlikely he has got into rat poison, although he does have a bit of time off the lead occasionally and might have found something- but last time off lead was last week.

He went for a short walk today and seemed fine during it. He's eating, peeing, pooping normally.

He's 12 years old but is probably a European village dog - he should be pretty hardy.

He is much loved and I've cried quite a lot today. We can't know what's wrong til we get the blood tests back.

Would just like a handhold / advice / cheering stories from people whose dog had similar and rallied.....

My friends dog has been to the vets today with vomiting blood. Turns out there's a doggy nurovirus going around. I'm sure he will be fine but here for a handhold

I have no experience of this and no suggestions of what it might be OP, but I really hope he's ok

Sounds like you've done all you can for now, and he's not deteriorating so keeping everything crossed for you.

Early news isn't good - very low platelets and red blood cells, slightly elevated white blood cells.

Could be infection, or lymphoma

He's having an ultrasound tomorrow and we'll know more hopefully

He's much the same - a bit deflated/ sorry for himself when at rest, otherwise his normal cheerful self. He is barking a lot less I noticed. He's almost eerily quiet.
