Puppy play pens- pop up???

I have researched like crazy and still not sure what one to go for 🤣.
Had a dog previously but no children so puppy proofing was easier.
I don’t want to use a crate tbh.
So play pens seem to be the way to go..
Seen a metal pen- which I would like however the pop up pens seem a lot better for us.. easily moved around the house and once folded take minimal room.
I'm really hoping to not use it for long, or long periods.
Any one used one or have any reviews. I’m finding the small ones cheap but really want a bigger one which ends up more expensive than the metal ones 🤣.
Only a small pup too.

To me they look a bit flimsy... and honestly mine would have found a way out in seconds... having said that, they also worked out how to climb out of the metal ones.
Not very helpful, sorry.

Pop up one would last 5 minutes 😂

dogs like crates - it gives them a safe space.

I think it entirely depends on the size of your puppy. Pop-up pens are fine for toy breeds and the smaller terriers, but anything bigger will be straight out. My pup was too big for a pop-up so I can't properly advise on that.

I don't crate, we use baby gates but we also got one of the black metal playpens to fence off an area so our cats could use the litter tray in peace. We started out with the 80cm height but then had to get the 100cm.
One thing I do need to warn of is that we felt the actual gate catch was sharp and dangerous. It was right on a level with our puppy's eyes so we ended up eliminating the gate panel altogether. I don't know how old your children are but if they're very young I would avoid the metal pens.

Mine would have destroyed a pop-up anything within minutes Grin

I can imagine my pup would have dragged it around the house 😆

My puppy worked out how to pull down the edges of the pop up pen on day two. If your puppy is really tiny then maybe - mine is a spaniel/lab cross. Honestly think they’re better for rabbits. We use it as a ball pit now.

You need a metal playpen with a crate. The bed goes in the crate and you put a blanket over the top. When in future your dog goes to the vets, it will not be upset by being in a crate.

Not everyone wants to crate their puppy.

I'd go with the metal pen. We had a metal pen that was zip-tied to the crate, so it created an igloo effect. It worked really well and gave her a puppy proof place to mooch around in freely.

Ours would have ripped one to shreds very quickly.
