Hotel swimming pool and dogs

I'm planning a holiday, and would like to go somewhere with a swimming pool. I'll be bringing my dog, and I was wondering what do you do with the dog when you want to use the pool?

Hmm, I think it's pretty rare for dogs to be welcome in standard hotels apart from guide dogs.

Sethera · 08/09/2024 21:33

Roughly where do you plan to holiday?

HotCrossBunplease · 08/09/2024 21:36

Doggy paddle, obviously!

HappierTimesAhead · 08/09/2024 21:37

😂

I thought you were going to ask if the dog could get in the pool with you. 😆

Lots of hotels are dog friendly @ElderMrs

Op there will be something the booking confirmation about not leaving them alone in the room. Are you travelling with anyone else? If so take it in turns, if not probably no swimming.

We take our dogs to lots of hotels in the EU. They are welcome usually. But not allowed around the pool areas (for obvious reasons) there are often rules about not leaving them unattended in rooms too.

Who Willis know of dog was unattended in the room ? Give them a good walk first and then go and enjoy the pool

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2024 22:09

Baby monitor

The reason they don't want dogs unattended is they could bark and disturb other guests

GildedRage · 08/09/2024 22:16

the potential for barking is an issue as is the potential for hotel staff to come face to face with them while you're out and they are refreshing towels or restocking the fridge in your room.

AnotherJaffaCakePlease · 08/09/2024 22:20

Will you have your car? Could the dog be left in the car while you swim provided the weather is not hot obviously. I think that's what I'd do rather than leaving them unattended in the hotel room where they may bark/cause damage.

Not true at all.

We left our dog in our room when we went for a swim at the last hotel we took him to.
