Dog may have eaten elderberries

If it did it was last night on an early evening walk. (I did notice some dog height tiny berries in the hedgerow but didn’t notice dog going near but it’s a sneaky b*gger).

had a bout of diarrhoea at lunchtime today when DH noticed tiny black specs which he thought were berries. Been listless and asleep all afternoon.

I didn’t really put two and two together until just now so if it was going to be bad it would have been dead by now according to what I’ve just read. It’s a nightmare animal for eating crap when we are out, grass, other animals poo, and does pull up plants in my garden too.

im going to the vets aren’t I. This is going to be costly.

If you are in the UK and these are Sambucus nigra and your dog only ate ripe berries, probably not. But are you sure it wasn't privet, because those berries are poisonous?

Your dog is listless and likely ate something toxic - off mumsnet and straight to the vets. Cost shouldn't matter.

Mumsnet diagnosis is dangerous, irresponsible and stupid. Don't take medical advice for your pet from random strangers off the internet. Go to a vet.
