Anyone with a working dog....

Would love to exchange stories! We had a working springer who passed last year, she was 14... I had little to do with training due to two young children. We got a lab in February who is now 5 months, he's amazing! I'm fascinated how clever they are , would love to exchange tips with any people who are experts on working labs .

Gotta say here in America "strict" often means "consistent". Most men are more "strict" in that they use totally different voices in dog training than women. I think the OP meant this "strict" - by less playful and loving than Mom.

Having said that one cannot just let a do be a "puppy" and there are stages when more guidance and structure (strictness) is very important. As long as they are not scaring the pup or beating the crap out of it, I think the tone of your post shows some hostility toward toward her DH without even knowing the man.

I'd second this. Lots of good advice and a really friendly atmosphere on the FB group.

I used some of their stuff to establish distance and duration in sit with my younger dog who has the attention span of a goldfish. It was vv helpful.

Nothing makes a working-line dog happier than doing what it was bred for.
