Does an indestructible dog toy/ball exist?

DDog loves toys and balls but has severely restricted access because he just destroys them. Photo evidence of the latest ball that promised to be indestructible (it lasted 2 days).

Any recommendations? He has a Kong that has survived, do their other products also last?

Ours is 13 and still wrecks everything - we sometimes buy him a pound shop toy that he rips the squeak out of within the first minute and then shreds it in the next 5 - but he really enjoys it!

They really do love ripping stuff up! What's the deal with that?

@Saintmariesleuth yes, a frozen Kong lasted about 20 minutes...

Our chewer hasn't managed to make a dent in this in over a year we love it!

My border collie is not allowed any soft toys or rope type ones because they get destroyed in a few hours. The only ones he doesn't destroy are quite hard plastic ones like kong.
He loves playing fetch with a ball launcher outside but is so bad at destroying the balls I have ended up buying boxes of used tennis balls (off eBay or Amazon) and just replacing them when they get too ripped up.

I own a dog products online shop and have 20 years of experience.... and have to say the answer is no. If a dog really wants to destroy a toy or ball, they will. My GSD is awful for it so she is not allowed any ball unless we are playing together and then it goes away again. The rest of the time she is only allowed tough chew type toys.

For intermediate destroyers, try a Chuckit Ultra Ball or Wunderball.

Now, when I said "no" above, I did not include those very hard cheap plastic balls (usually red or blue) you can get from some pet shops. They can't be destroyed but because they are a tough hard plastic they can be very dangerous so not advised. I saw one once online jammed / wedged in a dogs jaws... pretty scary.

Depending on the side of your dog…have you thought about giant cuddly toys?

I have a 4ft Elephant for my cockers - they destroyed every ‘large’ dog toy so I tried them with a giant kids toy. It’s too big for them to easily rip to shreds and actually more durable than many of the dog soft toys (I’ve found). Obviously don’t leave the dog with it because of the stuffing, but I’ve found it to be a good option! That being said it was an expensive risk to test whether it would work - £50! But it’s lasted three months so far and previously I was spending £100+ a month.

My lab destroys cuddly toys in minutes.

Maddy70 · 15/08/2024 15:50

No. All the indestructible ones are no match for my terriers
