Very excited to be picking up my puppy in a few days. Owner wants the full amount £2000 transferred the day before / I have paid a £200 deposit / is this normal practice? I have met the owner and think they are totally trustworthy etc - just wary of paying for the pup in advance / what's normal practice please x

If our buyers pay the day before we can have all their paperwork sorted before they collect - chip transfers, insurance etc. if they prefer to pay when they pick up they can use cash or transfer there and then.
If you trust your breeder enough to buy from them then you ought to be able to trust them enough to pay.
And £2k is a fair price for a well bred animal.

Normal for us - we paid £200 deposit and then the other £1k the day before we collected our pup

A well bred puppy, depending on breed and whether they can be shown or not is now £1500-£4000. All colours should be the same price and dogs and bitches also. £2k as long as the relevant health checks have been done is pretty standard. Vet care for mum, scans, health check for pups, vaccs, worming, chipping, any meds for mum is all much more expensive. The average adoption fee now is over £500 for an adult dog. Some much more.

It's normal, we transferred the money the day before as well. Nothing to worry about as long as you have signed a valid contact with the breeder.
