Disturbing new puppy

We have a 11 week old cockerpoo pup, he's settled so well and is no bother during the day. Toileting well, a bit bitey at the moment but nothing out of the ordinary for a pup.

My only issue is that he's in his crate downstairs at night. He sleeps quite well but if my toddler wakes in the night, (poorly at the moment and coughing and just waking super early) me moving around upstairs wakes him and he starts crying & my husband leaves for work at 5.40 we are waking pup and he's then up and ready for the day.

I've been taking him out for a wee but he just won't go back into crate without being really vocal and I don't want to upset him. So I've been then just on the sofa but last night from 3am when my toddler woke I've been on the sofa and I'm just exhausted !!

Any tips?

When very young ours used to wake just before 6. We were still feeding 4 times a day so we gave breakfast then, went into the garden for the toilet then she'd settle back to sleep on my lap on the sofa. Breakfast got moved to around 7:30 when we moved to feeding 3 times a day (about 16 weeks iirc) and by that stage she was happily sleeping until around that time.

Thank you! Will try this!

As a little update a week on, he's much more settled. We've kept the crate downstairs but left it open, and created a puppy pen area instead. He's much more settled, loving the freedom and sleeping much better even when we have got up and moved around. Husbands wakes ups have been timed right for as he needs to go out and he's then went back to sleep after a little play!

Still only 12 weeks so just a baby but much more relaxed on a night and no more crying!

So glad. Ours has started whining when we've sat down after dinner husband threatened to send her back to the breeder just now 😂

She's a year old this month 🙈

Oh god that doesn't bode well 🤣
I had a slight breakdown the other day with the peeing !! He was doing so well but then was just an awful. Day!
Don't have enough eyes to watch him while I'm working and I'm in meetings and clearly that 25 min period is major pee time even if he's been out 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
