Crufts

Has anyone else noticed how dated the handlers look at Crufts? All seem to wear hideous 'skirt suits' and it's been this way, for decades. Not trying to offend anyone- just an observation!

@Riverlee neither did I and I was showing my Leo 😂 There are no instructions as to what to do. It is a very long day. People turning up with masses of kit on carts. I had a brush in my handbag 😂 No idea you were supposed to ‘bench’ your dog at all times when not showing. It was a very strange world and frankly lockdown saved us from further pressure from the breeder to keep doing more shows. Without question, I had the naughtiest dog there who instantly forgot all everything we had done at the many, many craft classes we had endured. The only thing I learned…. was to wear a sports bra 😂

Crufts clothing has changed dramatically over the years. As a poster above said, you’d travel and wear the same clothes all day in years gone by. It would be casual clothes, no suits, no getting changed on arrival.

I’ve performed at crufts in one of the arena displays before now and it’s a long long day. I think I had to be backstage in the main arena two or three hours before our slot. It’s huge and not particularly comfortable for the dog.

Because I wasn’t showing I didn’t have to bench my dog in public. After our slot I took her round the trade stands where she begged samples off everyone. I was super proud with how she coped with the noise, the crowds, and the escalators. I don’t know if I’d do it again though - it’s such a long, tiring day for everyone, especially the dog.

While I don't care much about what the handlers wear, it has crossed my mind in the past that someone should have a stall selling good sports bras.Grin
