Westie puppy food recommendations

Will be bringing my wee fella home in a month or so and really want to do the best for him food wise as understand they can suffer from skin conditions. Do any westie owners have advice/recommendations for the best food for him? Thank you!

You can go around in circles with food, and to a certain extent it just depends on your dog. But as a baseline for a Westie puppy I would choose a single protein food (i.e. just one meat source), with meat as the first ingredient - have a good read of ingredient lists.

You’d do well to keep him on the same as the breeder was feeding for the first few weeks at least. He’ll have enough changes to contend with without the added upset of a diet change. If it’s a good breeder, which I sincerely hope it is, they’ll give you a diet sheet of what he’s eating & a few days supply to tide you over till you can buy some.

Continue with what the breeder is feeding. They will give you all the information you need assuming it’s a reputable breeder. I’m not saying you’ve not gone reputable but a feeding plan is something you should be given as a basic minimum.
