Is a dog that attacks another dog safe to be around kids?

I’ve had my dog for just afew weeks, spaniel and she keeps going for other dog outside the house. She’s fine with my other dog but she has bitten my neighbours dog and she went for a dog at the beach when it ran up to us. I have ordered a muzzle but I have a toddler so now I am worried. I don’t know what triggers her. I was told my her previous owner that she was fine with kids, but I was also told she was fine with other dogs.

Your dog sounds very stressed. Dog aggression and human aggression are two different things but a stressed dog can do either or both. I’d not let her around your child or other dog and I’d be speaking to Spaniel aid about helping to rehome her unless you can get very strict management in place 24/7.

I know you tried to do a good thing and well done but it doesn’t sound a safe situation for anyone at the moment.

Dog and human aggression are very different things.
However yours has shown aggression towards humans so I absolutely would not be putting your child in that position.
I would contact a breed specific rescue like Spaniel Aid. Having said that most rescues currently are overflowing and have waiting lists of dogs needing a rescue space. Most of these dogs will not be human aggressive so you may struggle but it is important to be honest.

Thanks for adding this video-I really feel people should learn canine behaviour and pass a test before being allowed to own a dog. The ignorance and danger to the child in this video is astounding.
