Is your dog up earlier this last week?

Our dog has been getting up earlier this week. Around 6.15/20 rather than 7/7.30 of recent times.
I assume because it's getting lighter earlier, but she also seems to be just raring to go more than usual, and spending ages sniffing the air in the garden etc.

Spoke to our dog walker who has her own dogs and she said its been the same with her.
Do you think there is literally 'something in the air' as the season turns maybe?

Just curious!

Mine is up at her normal time but instead of lounging on the chair for an hour before her walk, she has wanted to get going straight away. Maybe they can sense spring coming?

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 23/02/2024 09:25

Yep - it's always the same at this time of year!

Gizlotsmum · 23/02/2024 09:28

Yes but we are nearer 4am 😳

They all collude I swear! It's brutal!

As if mine knew I started this thread, this morning she made it an hour earlier and started whining at 5.15am.

Hoping it's a full moon & spring thing?!?!

No! Mine are still in bed snoring now!
Weekdays we are all up and out early but that’s me waking them up. Let to their own devices they sleep till 8.30ish. They are working breeds too - Grin.

Do you reckon? I am so hoping its a spring thing... How long have you been conducting this 'research' @lifebeginsaftercoffee ?

My eldest lab stands at the bottom of the stairs and does the dog equivalent of a discreet cough, on repeat and interspersed with a whine. From 4.10am

My alarm goes off at 4.45am so this is very annoying.

Rainbowstripes · 24/02/2024 08:21

My dog is a high energy working dog who thankfully is super lazy when it comes to getting plenty of sleep 🤣 he gets up when I get up and will happily lie in until 9 on a Sunday 😴 once he is up he's full of beans 🐾

mycatsanutter · 24/02/2024 08:38

Mine gets up when we do , doesn't disturb us at all when we have a lie in.
