Waterproof coat for a Labrador

Something I never thought I would need, as my Labrador loves nothing better than getting wet ( well, perhaps food! )
BUT… she’s currently on restricted exercise due to joint problems, so we’re doing shorter, less exciting lead walks where she spends a lot of time sniffing and trying to eat grass. So I feel like she needs a bit of protection when we go out in the rain so she’s not getting wet and cold, which is no good for her arthritis.
Can anyone recommend a decent, warm and waterproof coat that is comfortable enough for a dog that doesn’t like wearing clothes? 😁
I do have a towelling gown for after she’s been swimming etc, but at the moment I’d rather she didn’t get wet in the first place.

@DaisyDaffodil - you're a charmer aren't you? 😂

I'm not sure why you felt the need to come along and tell PP what you thought about Labradors in coats in the first place, tbh.

The thread was about brand recommendations, not your opinion on clothing for dogs Confused

@lifeispainauchocolat - because I can only assume that people who feel the need to put their labs in a warm, waterproof coat don't actually understand how a lab's coat works 🤷‍♀️

But @DaisyDaffodil didn't ask for your opinion on dogs in coats. Neither did OP.

If you don't agree with dogs wearing coats then don't buy your dogs coats. It's pretty simple.

Yikes, just seen how expensive the one my friend has is

Oh! 😂 Even more than the Equifleece! It looks a good one though, but probably a bit surplus to our requirements.

Aside from Equafleece DoggyKings do quite a nice looking waterproof with an integrated harness which looks easier to put on / off .

Thank you, I’ll take a look. Just realised she does actually have a fleece that someone gave us, so I’m leaning towards the waterproof jacket type I think.

I bought this one for my Labrador sized rescue and it’s probably the best dog coat I have ever bought.
I only use it when it’s cold and wet and it works beautifully, covering her chest as well as her back.

Thanks, that one keeps coming up in searches so good to have a recommendation.

Another recommendation for equafleece. I have one for my spaniel and she is always warm and dry in it.

Personally, slower, shorter walks or not, a lab does have a very good waterproof coat of its own however I think there is a half way house here, walk the dog without a coat, put an equafleece on once finished walking for the journey home in a car for example.

I use this method for my elderly dogs, one in particular following an injury and now arthritic, it works well and does not risk overheating them when walking.
