Chemical Castration - can feel the chip on his skin

Hi All, Last week we got the Chemical Chip implanted on my 17 month old dog. The vet said I shouldnt rub/pet him at the back of his neck for 3 days where the implantation been done. It's been more than 8 days now. Today I was just petting/Scratching him all over his body (he loves it) and suddenly I felt the chip protruding from his skin, It looks like I can easily pull it off with minimum scratching. This Friday I have booked his Grooming appt, I am really worried that the chip might fall off with the wash and drying (althought I will instruct them to be careful, the chip looks so flimsily sitting on him). We went for 6 months chip to see his behavior before thinking of a more permanent castration. This costed me £108. I am wondering as the chip is so shallow over his skin, is the implantation is even working at all? Did I just pay for nothing? I dont see any difference in his behavior. Could someone who has experience with this, let me know if it is normal to feel the chip on his body? and should I postpone the grooming appt for 2 weeks? He is already overdue.

Take a photo of what you have found and contact your vet in the morning. These can be tricky to implant.

Ive had my dog chipped twice. Couldnt feel anything. Youll know if it works as his balls will shrink in about a month. I d talk to the vet anyway to register concern about it

Ok, thank you for your replies. I can only feel it, cant see properly as he is poodle mix. So a pic might not help, but will report it to Vet tomorrow morning first thing.

Ok, took him to the Vet, and found out it is just dried blood from the implantation, that I was feeling on his skin.. Silly me!
