Suspicions about dog walk today

I need to start by saying my dog walker is a great guy and the dogs love him .
Am I overthinking this .
He has just dropped my dogs back after a 2 hour walk and they are bone dry with not a spec of mud on them not even their feet .
How can this be when it's been raining all morning and he takes them to the beach or woods ?

Beach wouldn't be particularly muddy?

Moveoverdarlin · 18/10/2023 14:07

Yeah I agree, bit odd. The beach would leave them covered in wet sand.

hattie43 · 18/10/2023 14:20

That's my thoughts, when I take them out they are dirty , feet and undercarriage ( they are small so mud get's everywhere).
I get on so well with our dog walker I'd consider him a friend but that's not to say I don't want what I'm paying for .

Why don't you make a bit of a joke about it and ask him what wonderful product he uses to get them so clean? He may carry a portable shower and towels etc.

Was going to say this! He could be giving them a good clean up before they go home.

margotrose · 18/10/2023 16:01

I'm a dog walker and clean all the dogs off before I drop them home. Are you sure he's not doing the same?

Jewelspun · 18/10/2023 16:54

Mine are clean when they come back from a beach walk.

It all drops off into the car!

Maybe he used those drying bag things that dogs can be zipped into?

ApolloandDaphne · 18/10/2023 17:40

My DB uses a dog Walker and she brings all the dogs back immaculate from wet muddy walks. Her van is set up for washing and drying them off.

hattie43 · 18/10/2023 20:35

Thankyou all , you've put my mind at rest , they are probably cleaned off before they come home .

Are they picked up in a van? Or straight from home to the walk destination? If he has a van then could have a Mud Daddy type set up, but then I'd ask what breed are they because my Labradors would need a good few hours drying time after being washed. And even if he had a Mud Daddy I'd doubt he had a dryer in the van.

QuillBill · 18/10/2023 20:51

Surely you would be able to tell if they hadn't been for a walk by their behaviour.

shockthemonkey · 18/10/2023 20:57

Is this the first time they’ve come back clean?

Sonolanona · 18/10/2023 23:47

Put a tracker on your dog Grin
Mine wears one as she has a tendency to disappear if she spots something she can chase if she's off lead, but it also means I can see where she went on the days she goes out with the dog walker. I trust my walker completely..she's fab, but I quite like to glance at my phone and think 'oh she's down by the river..lovely!' when I'm working.

Sarvanga38 · 18/10/2023 23:51

What breed? Are you there when they get home, or looking via a camera?

If I were at home and someone brought my two back immaculate after a 2 hour walk on a rainy day, there is no doubt at all that they had never let them out of the van …

Newpeep · 19/10/2023 11:48

We went out in filthy weather on a thick mud track this morning. I got plastered. Puppy was fine after a rub down with a towel. She is rough coated. You’d not known she’d been trashing through puddles and mud for over an hour. Me on the other hand…

TheFlis · 19/10/2023 11:50

Does he not send you pics? We get a couple of photos and usually a short video from each walk.

ihavespoken · 19/10/2023 12:07

Are the dogs tired out? I only ask because a dog walker local to us was busted by an owner just taking the dog round the corner and sitting with them in the van! They only realised as the dog was still hyper after the walk and clearly hadn't let off any steam

shiningstar2 · 19/10/2023 12:21

Most dogs do their poo when they are out on their walks if they are walked regularly. I meet up with others to walk our dogs ...big group...and they all do a poo on the walk. If your dogs are walked daily and they regularly poo in your garden it could be a sign they are not being walked. Of course the dog walker could also just wait for them to poo then take them around his house. 🤔ost dog walkers are great and you more than likely have nothing to worry about but dog walkers are like any other profession ...most do a good job but you get the odd rogue 😁 if he's a friend it's probably fine

I'm not sure what you're basing this on but mine absolutely don't despite being walked regularly, they poo in the garden at bedtime.

shiningstar2 · 19/10/2023 13:15

@namechange just something I have observed walking with dog walker friend 3 times a week with my own dog and with a walking group on Saturdays. Not scientific evidence 😁 but might be a clue if op's own dog is also usually inclined to do poos on walks. I did consider not posting this as obviously it's not all dogs and somebody was sure to point this out even though I did mention only 'could' be a sign depending on op's own dog's usual habits. Just trying to be helpful 😃
