Any chihuahua owners about?

I have a 6 month old chihuahua puppy, she's lovely, she does do the nervous shake thing in new situations.

But since its been colder the last week she's been shaking alot! Once I wrap her in a blankie she stops.

I can't afford to have the heating on in the day for just me and the dog

Is this why chihuahuas often wear clothes? 🤔

Should I get her some jumpers?

Sometimes fear, excitement or cold. Get a thick, snuggly blanket to let her sleep in/wrap herself up in

She has blankets and warm enclosed cat beds but I'm talking about when walking around the house, eating or especially on walks since it getting cold. Basically anytime she's not sleep in bed!

Mine is shaky at times but when I put him in a coat/jacket he totally freezes like a statue until I take it off. It's comical.

I've just put mine in a vest as she was shaky and cold, they have little body fat I think so are prone to feeling the cold.

We make a daily hot water bottle for our 20 year old chi who hates clothes. He also has 2 fleece blankets covering him in his bed from autumn onwards. The struggle is real.

Knit her some jumpers. You don’t need to be an expert knitter, she won’t bother about fancy patterns or the occasional dropped stitch, far cheaper than buying. There are lots of free patterns on Ravelry online.
I don’t have a chi but a couple of another equally tiny breed. Snuggly blankets on your knee & hot water bottles help. Does she sleep with you ?

i have two. Hot water bottles and blankets are the way to go.

My smaller one refuses to go outside unless it’s hot and sunny ffs

Maybe a bit extreme but you need an Aga, mine sulked for months until ours went back on last month.
And obviously they need to sleep not on your bed but under the duvet, ideally taking as much body heat as they can steal.

It wouldn’t hurt to have a little jumper for them. My two snuggle down in blankets when it gets colder

Yes she sleeps in the bed under the duvet. This is her right now.

I can't knit but I have a friend that does. Might enlist her help

She’s gorgeous & looks so snug there.
One of mine has taken to sleeping curled up snuggled against my neck, head on pillow, body under blankets.

My long haired chihuahua wears jumpers in cold weather. He also loves having a blanket hot out of the tumble drier and sleeps in bed with my daughter every night under the covers.

She seems to like it :)

My little one also hates the cold, she wears knitted jumpers inside and burrows into blankets and has an equafleece jumper for walks in cold or rainy weather.

Equafleece do some very snuggly warm fleece jumpers.

Little update. I decided to buy some fleece and a pattern and make some myself.

Every time I take one of her she curls up till I put another on 😂

Are they OK being on them 24/7? She sleeps with me so she can't get tangled up unsupervised etc.

Yeah they are ok 24/7. They are originally from Mexico and were bred for hot weather. You would know if they got too hot

mines not particularly shaky in general but she’s def feeling the cold, perfectly happy wrapped up and not distressed… that being said I don’t trust mine for one second with a hot water bottle! Chaos pup 😂😂😂

Just realised this is old 🤦🏻‍♀️ to add though, mine got little bald spots in contact areas when I kept it on for too long. So def give a breather when you’re around and can supervise! Your chi is lovely ☺️
