What’s up with my dog’s leg?

A few weeks ago I noticed my dog standing with her front left leg slightly raised (but paw still touching the ground) and it was shaking. She wasn’t limping or anything and I thought I’d imagined it. It then happened a few more times, always same leg - shakes when she’s stationary. I took her to vets who couldn’t find anything obvious - plus she’s running around etc as normal, no limping. They said they could x-Ray it but as she’s extremely nervous the vet said it would be more traumatic for her than it was worth as it isn’t bothering her.

It’s still happening though! Same leg, shaking. Yesterday she ran around a 6 acre field non stop for an hour so it can’t be bothering her but I can’t help worrying!

Any idea what it could be?

How old is your dog? Is there a pattern to when it happens?

She’s 4, no pattern - it’s just really random but I’d say it happens daily when she’s stood still (but not everytime she’s stood still)

Raising a front leg can mean the dog is unsure. It’s quite common. Mine will do it occasionally. She will sit first, then raise a leg. It’s usually accompanied by her ears pulled back slightly and she has looked worried. If it’s on a walk I go back to her and reassure her and we carry on. She does it less now (she’s just turned a year) as she’s grown in confidence.

My boy did this, he had a split nail.

Is it an anticipation type thing? My beagle does it sometimes when he's hoping to get some food 🙈
