Suggestions for first family dog

Just that, really. Looking at dogs for a small family- DH, DD (4) and me. Would be first time owners, open to suggestions.

We have a large garden and plenty of space. There is usually someone at home at all times as we WFH a lot.

Probably couldn't cope with a breed that needs a insane amount of walking, so ideally a breed that is calm and good with children.

My friends cavalier cross Bichon would possibly be a good fit for your family. They’re generally good natured and not too mad, unlike some of the cocker crosses.

our younger pom was the perfect dog for small kids, she loved them and was so tolerant, would happily sit in a toy push chair and be pushed up and down the road all day long. Dd2 was 3 when she was born and they were the absolute best of friends. I don’t think she was typical for the breed though her mum was never up for any of that!! Also they’re not really up for chasing balls etc, they just kind of look at you as if to say “you threw it, you get it”. But they will sit on your lap all day long and are very loyal and loving, if a bit yappy.
