Would your dog defend you on a walk? If so what breed is it?

I love my Springer to bits but if I was attacked while walking she’d either wet herself or throw herself at them for a fuss. I work and walk in remote locations and could do with a dog that would stand up for me. We have 5 year old DS and 19 month DD so the breed needs to be family friendly.

I would think she would - I hope she would!

Mine is a rescue - so mixed, she has the DNA of a mega mutt and the same size of a collie.

I've been in the woods walking her and I was approached by a man; he asked if she was friendly. I just replied unfortunately no, so please don’t pet her. And on queue she gave a low growl and I couldn’t of loved her more.

She’s a puppy farm breeder from Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli. They have a lot of her sisters too. Some are still on their website.

Apparently they find it hard to rehome the ones with saggy boobs. I think every menopausal woman (me included) would adopt her just for that!

She’s a darling and has already stolen DDogs bed. She’s obviously been beaten though, I’ve not been able to lay a hand on her yet 😡

@MontezumasPuma I can see why it's called Many Tears. Those poor dogs - I'm guessing breeder is short hand for "puppy farm". Seems lots of them have barely been outside, had almost no friendly human contact and have had their lives trashed.. SadAngryShock Poor Jemini not used to kind hands and kind words... and so many of them never been in a home before

. poor things i want them all but I think DP would have something to say and anyway a second dog would be difficult for us at the moment let alone another 20

Absolutely heart breaking. I'm off work with some kind of flu bug and my beautiful pup is curled up next to me - hope she'll forgive me for the missed walks today struggling to get to bathroom. I'd hate to think she'd ever been treated so badly

There is some controversy about Many Tears Rescue. All there dogs come from puppy farms (apparently they go to great lengths to avoid acknowledging that). So for breeder, read puppy farm. On the one hand it’s good for these poor ex breeding dogs/bitches to have the chance of a good home. On the other hand, at £300 per animal, more if they have a passport (which would only happen with. Puppy farmer if they had been imported from God knows where), some people wonder if it’s just another nice earner for those involved in puppy farming and if that actually just supports the whole thing. They do have charitable status, but so do lots of questionable organisations. I’m not saying don’t rescue (buy) from them. I’m just highlighting some of the issues of concern around them. I have no direct experience of them myself.
