Any fellow greyhound owners here?

I'm gazing at my lovely boy as I type. He's passed out after a day on the beach. Farting quietly and slowly gassing me to death (we're on holiday so he's had a few more cheeky morsels than he normally would).

I was just thinking how lucky we were to find him. Such a gentle affectionate soul. Lovely with other dogs. Happy to go anywhere with us, as long as he has something soft to lie on.

Also turns into a different dog on the beach. I think the sand must remind him of racing. And all the smells. He's never more playful and zoomy than at the seaside.

Would love to hear about the Mumsnet pack of greyhounds and sighthounds. 😊

Here's ours, we only collected her today!

She's coped incredibly well with all the new home newness considering she only retired in June. I think she had a good first day - she seems to like her new humans, the toys are lots of fun, and my 3yo giggles when she licks his ears which apparently is fun for both of them.

And now I'm sat on the kitchen floor with her while she settles for the night

She is beautiful! Great sign that she is playing with toys already :)

Oh I've found my people! We adopted our big black ex racer boy 4 years ago and he is utterly adorable. Very gentle and calm, lives alongside our cat (cat is the boss), spends many hours asleep and snoring gently - but will do occasional zoomies and loves a fuss. I've tried to attach pic of him in his Christmas outfit (he was unimpressed)!

We've got an old terrier who's teaching her how to be a house dog. I don't think she'd been here 10 mins before he'd got loads of toys out and was asking to play fetch.

Today she learnt to climb the stairs, so she can sleep in our bedroom tonight :D

I'm a whippet mum but if I had room I'd definitely have greyhounds too . I adore their pointy faces .

Ah, I'm so glad I started this thread.

So many lovely dogs.

@AddictedtoCrunchies your grey looks so much like our boy!

We’ve had our big black with white bits retired racer for just over 3 years and love him to bits. He still loves running (especially when he can show off to bystanders) and mooching and sniffing. I’m not convinced they are stupid though - more like cats - are the stupid dogs not the ones who run and fetch a stick for no purpose?

Ours is actually terrified of our dcats! She won't come in the back door if dcat is in the utility room.. Just stands whining until we go save her! Dcat is tiny!

I have a 9 year old girl. She's so very beautiful, yet goofy! Adopted her when she was 3 and she was so timid. She's not timid anymore, loves people and all other dogs. On Wednesday, she has to go and some teeth removed at the vet. I'm so worried about her going under anaesthetic. She's been my rock since i separated from my husband. I'm trying to stay positive but I can't help but feel so panicked that something will go wrong. Paws crossed all will be fine for my lovely girl.

Hope it went smoothly 🐾 💜
