Dog poos on green things inside home

My dog poos on his snuffle mat that's green and also a green blanket we have. Absolutely nothing else, ever. These purchases are only within the last few weeks and we have had him 3 years. Surely he isn't thinking this is grass?? He's been fully house trained since he was some months old and we haven't had an indoor accident since 6 months until these 2 green items! I've removed them now... obviously! But find it really strange and wondered if anyone else knew the reason/had experienced similar

Was he house trained on puppy pads and confusing the items for the pads maybe?

To his eyes, (dogs are colour blind) they might look like grass.

Yes they might look like grass - change them and see what happens

Oo didn't know dogs were colour blind lol. How did I know! But yes they both have like tassel things on the blanket and it was right on those and the shuffle mat is deffo grass looking. Thought it was a coincidence both were green but must be the style. So weird.

He actually wasn't trained for pads, always gone outside since I had him! Which is why it's so confusing lol and we have other blankets and he wouldn't dream of going on them!

I can absolutely guarantee that your dog does not think the blankets are grass.

Dogs are way too clever.

It wont smell the same, it wont feel the same.

If you closed your eyes and trod on grass or a blanket you would know the difference!

Probably the smell of new things coming into the house that does not smell of the "home" . Wash then in enzymatic cleaner and do not leave him unsupervised with them
