Dog won’t ‘go’ on new lawn

I’m hoping someone might have some advice. We recently had our back garden landscaped and all the lawn is new. Prior to finishing it was an overgrown mess and our dog always used it to wander and do his business outside of walks. Now he has no interest in going up to the garden let alone using it. I assume we’ve disturbed his territory. How can we get him back on it!

Is it pee or poop? If poop, I’d suggest bringing one back with you from a walk, putting it down where you want him to go and picking it back up again. For pee, if you trained him as a puppy with a command and praise for peeing in the garden, go back to that, being out there with him until he pees and then rewarding, shouldn’t take as long for him to grasp the idea, since he’s just applying existing rules to a “new” place.

Go out with him on a lead and let him sniff and explore. The act of walking about on a lead should encourage him to "go" and then the scent he leaves should show him that that's his toilet.
