My beautiful whippet died a few years ago.
He was very special to us and even though we missed having a dog, we only now feel ready for a new one to join our family.

We are definitely a whippet family. The only thing I wished was possible with a whippet was to cuddle them in my lap and hold them in my arms. For this reason I started researching Italian greyhounds (which I have no experience with). I read a lot and watched a lot of YouTube videos and they seem to be absolutely fantastic but I’m worried about their delicate breakable bones and the difficulty of housetraining them.

I saw a few references (and online ads) to whippet Italian cross which sounds to me at least in theory like a perfect solution but I can’t find a lot of information or owner experience online.

Does anybody own one or know any? My ideal do would be a miniature whippet. How far is that from a wiggy?

Any advice is most welcome!

Great news! What they don't have in eyes, they have in ears and sass

@FastFood What a cutie! Thank you for telling me about your dog. It was very helpful and definitely pointed me in the right direction.

Hi Sapin,

Sorry to jump in so many moons later; your dog is exactly the kind I'm looking for! I was just wondering if you would mind sharing where you found them?

Very best :)

Your whippets are all tiny. Mine is 20kg! I’ve met the rest of the litter and the rest are all whippet sized but we got this. He’s very snuggly tho.

we used to have a toy poodle and I do miss having a tiny dog, I’d have an Iggy in a heartbeat.

We have an Iggy cross Jack Russel, who I saw in an ad and sort of snuck home without consulting the husband. Turns out he loves the husband best! But like you I went for a cross because the first thing a vet said to me when she heard I was looking Italian Greyhounds was about them breaking legs.

So now we have a little boy who is essentially a perfect cross between the two breeds. He enjoys cuddling on the sofa, will happily sit on my lap but also has the terrier tenacity which is useful because he's best buds with my samoyed and needs it when they play!
