Second dog

We currently have 1 miniature dachshund who is 3 years old and we are contemplating getting him a little brother (same breed). Just wondering what what the pros and cons might be of getting a second.

I regretted getting a second dog. Honestly unless you have a burning desire for two dogs then stick at 1.

I regretted my second dog. I wouldn't do it again. Mine are two males.

We recently added a new pup and it’s worked out very well. They’re not soulmates but they do get on well. Big dog (2yrs) loves company and is very chilled and tolerant. That said - he can resource guard balls but he has learned to play gently with pup and I think having to share has improved him. Little pup is feisty and is not phased by bigger dog so I think it’s a very good fit.
