Border Collie Question

I've put a deposit down for a Border Collie who was the runt of the litter. She is 8 weeks old today. I was sent a photo today and her head looks rather big, her legs short and her paws small. I've met both the parents and they are fine and her siblings are quite a bit bigger than the pup I am buying. Any thoughts?

We picked the runt of the border collie litter too. She's 8 months old now and perfectly healthy, just petite. She has a collie friend that we sometimes see on walks. They're exactly the same age but the other dog is twice the size of mine. Anyway, here she is - all 12kg of her.

She looks fine. Some puppies do struggle a bit with putting on weight, especially if they are in a big litter and a bit smaller.

But they tend to catch up once they have settled into their new home.

It’s definitely the angle of the photo. Enjoy today!

My boy looked similar when we got him and he was perfect. We lost him this week age 14. He was honestly the best dog we could have hoped for. Loved the kids, adored ‘his’ cat, and was such a big personality. I’m so happy my children got to grow up with such a kind and loving boy. We miss him like crazy and my heart is broken, but the memories I have a priceless.
I’m so excited for you to be picking her up today, you have an amazing chapter ahead of you.

She's very cute. My childhood dog was a border collie and was frankly mental but I still loved her 😆

My dog (a staffie) was absolutely the runt. My sister actually got her brother from the same litter and he ended up literally twice her size! She was perfect though, just petite. I really wouldn't worry! Enjoy picking up your new companion 😊

My parents got the smallest pup, not exactly a runt but he was notably smaller. He grew into a 35kg bundle of collie intelligence! He was glorious.
In contrast, my girl was the same as all her litter-mates and never got past 20kg.

@HereWeGo2023 I’m so sorry to read about the loss of your dog. They leave such a big hole in our lives. xx

I am so sorry for the loss of your boy. I lost my 17 year old Tonkinese cat five weeks ago and she has left a huge gap in my life because she was my shadow and adorable. I am looking forward to picking her up and enjoying a new chapter

The photo is foreshortened so her head will look very big compared to her body.

Mine wasn’t the runt, but she’s half border collie and the paw thing doesn’t really factor in until the pup is about 14 weeks, until then, everything about them is small.
photo 1: my lurcher (1/2 border collie, 1/4 deerhound, 1/4 whippet) at 11 weeks. Tiny everything, including feet, big head.
photo 2: same dog at 2 years old, weighing nearly 20kg and 24” at the shoulder (two inches taller than the upper end of male border collie heights) big everything, including feet, tiny head.
