Terrified of 'cone of shame'. Other ideas?

Hi. My greyhound has a flexor tendonotomy procedure on Wednesday. Unfortunately she has been trying to lick wound sites so today at her post op check the vet said she needed to wear a cone. However she's terrified of it and running into walls etc to get it off. She was hyper-ventilating / panting and I've taken it off as it was causing her so much distress and I was worried she was going to hurt herself more. Any other ideas to stop her wound licking? I'm trying to distract her with a licky mat / bones but that only works for so long. I am going to try and stay with her as much as I can to monitor the situation but I have a job / kids so can't obviously be with her all the time. Any ideas greatly appreciated?

You can get babygrow type things, with legs if necessary.

if it’s a leg you could try vetwrap to cover it, it’s a non adhesive wrap like a bandage that sticks to itself.

Yes, you can buy inflatable collars or squishy collars which do the same job.

They look like those neck pillows you wear on a plane. Although one of my cats had a crab one. He rocked it.

Inflatable cone... About a tenner but can reuse and use as a pillow..

As demonstrated....

How about the inflatable type?

Our Ddog used to hate the plastic cone but using the inflatable one was a game changer.
Ours is a Buster but I am sure there are other variations on the same theme.

Tried both options and inflatable collar was a waste of money, he hated it as much as the cone. The suit however was brilliant and he had no issues whatsoever wearing it. I got ours from Amazon and it washed brilliantly too.

I'd put her in a long legged set of pjs and vet tape the bottom of the leg. If your dog is a 26" back I'd loan you one of our HoundTees ones as it is very thin t shirt material so not hot and faster than buying new.
If its on her lower leg, you could just cut the toe off a sports sock and tape it on like a leg warmer, or if it won't stay up, get a pair of opague tights, cut a hole in the crotch for her head or tail depending on which end, cut the toes off, and again tape the bottoms of the leg (I'd fold the material over on the injured part a couple of times) to hold in place
