Little update on the rescue corgi

He's doing very well overall, but has definitely a) entered his second puppyhood or b) is now completing his first one, as we are not entirely sure how old he is. He might not be 2 yet. He's getting more dark fur, and sometimes their coats change colour when they're not completely mature yet. Anything left accessible to him he will chew (this is on us, of course: just have to treat him like a puppy in this regard, that if we leave something down, its getting chewed to pieces). His recall is improving, but actually, he's pretty happy on the long lead. We had some advice from a trainer that a collar is better than a harness because the harness can give confusing signals, and this has proved to be correct. He is happier in a collar.

He's still incredibly long and l a n k y. I call him the Long Ness Monster. I've been looking at pictures of Cardigans online, and whilst some are pretty long, I haven't seen any quite as lanky as this boy. Unlike our Pembroke, who gets fat if she inhales 1 gram of excess food, its quite a challenge to keep any weight on him. He needs a lot of food just to maintain, and he's not that interested in food. But he's young, and I think its better for such a long boy to be on the leaner side for the sake of his back.

I have a basset hound and we often get told he is skinny but vet like you says he is spot on. I think people with some breeds like Corgi and Basset Hounds have become used to them being overweight

I think we need photos, just so that we can check of course Grin

I think I can oblige its possible I have 1 or 2 photos of him (aka 90% of my photos rail)

Surprisingly hard to find one of him not curled up and napping 😁

His nickname is noodle or Udon because he is so long.

He looks perfect to me! My DF also has a Bassett and his special talent seems to be napping too Wink

I can confirm Bassets are exceptional nappers 😁

Mine also likes snoozing. Having a quick rest. A moment of shut eye and a morning break

I'm with him on that. If you can intersperse it with breakfast, second breakfast and elevenses I think it sounds like my perfect day Grin
