I wish I had never got a dog.

Because I love him so so much I can’t bear the thought of him one day not being my sidekick. I genuinely don’t know how I will get over the pain of when he’s gone. It’s something I occasionally think of and it hits me with such sadness.

He’s 2 <blush>.

I’ve never owned a pet so I had no idea of the love I would feel for a dog. He is a PITA at all times but he has the cutest little face I like to smoosh daily.

Oooh I had to put this thread down earlier as crying too much about my little whippet who died suddenly 2 weeks ago. She was nearly 14. We lost her brother last year but when we got back from the vet, she was still here and became our sole focus.

much harder this time with no dog under my feet at all. They are such a part of the fabric of family life.

like Ilovehimbut I was thinking that being dog free for a while would have positives like being able to go away. I might feel it in time but right now I just miss her desperately.

I would get a dog tomorrow if DH wasn’t saying that we said we’d take a break from dog owning. I might have to consider getting a dog and taking a break from DH instead 😉

@HannahDefoesTrenchcoat I lost my dog 2 weeks and 1 day ago. New dog has been with us a week tomorrow. I still miss old dog, but having a new dogs ways to learn has helped so much. My husband wanted more time too, but I found it unbearable, and he could see that and told me to go ahead. We already have another dog too. I think it could have been awkward if new dog had not settled quickly.

@wheresmymojo I'm quietly sobbing at those beautiful words - and my dog (not yet 2 years old!) lifted her head up to see what I was sad about and just stared at me with concern! Taking her out to the park now to have a great time with her.

Sobbing reading this. We lost our soul dog two weeks ago just before they were two. Heart is broken.
