A step up for small dog to reach sofa?

Would you recommend a small step up for a cavalier to reach his blanket side of the sofa?

I have steps for my ETT. It’s so important to protect their joints, especially while they are still developing.

The ones we bought come as a set of three that can be separated if needs be and also act as storage, which is handy for keeping dog related paraphernalia in as well.

We used all three when he was tiny, but once he was fully grown we removed the lower one, as we only have a small living room and they do take up a bit of floor space.

Be warned though, it’s a bit of a challenge teaching a lively puppy to use the steps rather than boinging up onto the sofa. You do need to be consistent and make sure using the steps is more rewarding than jumping up.

Some can be really cheap and dangerous. I would avoid those steep plastic slippy ones. They are flimsy, slippy, too steep, too slim width wise and rather dangerous. A nice wide tread and wide step too is best.

I have little legs and use a step to reach my high kitchen cupboards. No different for a dog with little legs to get on to the sofa.

caringcarer, except in the world of MN, dogs are not allowed on sofa or bed😁. Mine are. We had our little man, Phalane PTS a couple of months ago, he was almost 18. He had CCD,we almost got him steps, but his confused state was so bad,he had a particular spot on a particular sofa, stood glaring at you, till you lifted him up. God help the human or our other dog if they say there! 7 year old border collie has arthritis, tried the bought steps for the car, she couldn't use them and they were slippery,DH made some from wood, carpet on top,so not slippery
