Advice please from spaniel owners

We have just confirmed that we will be buying a simply beautiful KC spaniel from a KC registered breeder. The dog has been health tested and the breeder comes highly recommended (plus I have a nice feeling from them too).

anyway - now on to making their welcome as comfortable as possible

any recommendations?
things to buy?

Just seen the type of spaniel you are getting so scratch the gun dog/agility advice. I won't use crates as I don't like locking animals up and have raised many pups without them.

On another note OP, I am not sure that you could buy a more unhealthy type of spaniel. Why don't you get a little show cocker instead as this would suit your needs and be much healthier. I would not touch a Cav.
