Doubting myself over whether I did the right thing

Had DDog pts on Monday.

Although she was my dog she stayed with DF as he owns her litter mate and when I moved out and tried to take DDog with me he stopped eating. And he lives on a farm so was a better environment for her.

But I had them both most weekends and every holiday.

So I'm relying on DFs reports to some degree.

DDog was 11. She had some pain that was being managed by metacam and for the past few months had been having bladder issues - no sign of UTI and some abnormal cells and thickening of bladder wall.

Then a couple of weeks ago she started coughing and antibiotics wouldn't clear it.

Then on Monday she seemed to deteriorate- she was in pain, refusing to eat, refusing to drink and ignoring her ball (she never goes anywhere without one in her mouth).

She refused to get out of the car boot (where the dogs lie while DF and I are working outside).

I'm torn. On one hand her metacam had increased to daily and the bladder issues were query cancer but the ongoing investigation would have meant general anaesthetic and stressful situations for an already nervous dog.

But I also worry it was just a bad day and I was too hasty and too pressured by DF.

You did the right thing for her. She wasn't happy. She was in pain.
How's the male dog doing?

Refusing food and water is a classic sign that the Time has come, as well as her complete disinterest in what she loved. It's totally heartbreaking but you did do the right thing, the loving thing. ❤️

He's not really coping. Did a dirty protest on the sofa last night.

We always thought he'd go first as he's had a couple of near misses with injury and once inhaled a grass seed which resulted in three days in the big vet school across the country.
My girl would have coped better without him than he will without her.
