How long do you walk your 10 year old lab/retriever??

We’re hopefully coming out of almost three years of paw issues with DDog (toe removal and side effects and abscesses etc).

we’ve basically been on a regimen of short walks, no walks and walks on grass only.

Hes a golden retriever who is 11 next month and I’m wondering what’s a normal amount for a similar dog to manage because I have no idea any more.

Does he have any stiffness or arthritis? If not , I would have given mine around 2 hours a day. But, not immediately after a layoff. Try building it up - short 30 minute walks x 2 per day, then increasing to 45 minutes etc.

My 12 year old lab has arthritis and is on all the drugs, so we keep it light. I am totally guided by how he responds . Our walks may last as long as before, but the distance covered has halved.

He’s a bit stiff but no medication. I do plan to start off gentle - we were on about 20 mins a few weeks ago before his last operation.

Our yellow lab is 11, she has 3 x 45 mins plus 3 mini 10 mins strolls a day. That’s fine for her. She’s in good shape and hasn’t really slowed down that much!
